Our History

Macon Funeral Home was founded in 1991 by the Buchanan family, whose roots in Macon County stretch back more than fifty years. From the beginning, their vision was simple: to serve their neighbors with compassion, integrity, and unwavering commitment.

“Our goal has always been to earn the trust of the families we serve,” founder Larry Buchanan often said. “That will never change.”

Over the years, Macon Funeral Home has grown alongside the community, guided by the same values that inspired its founding. The Buchanan family and their dedicated staff have supported families through moments of loss, offering comfort, understanding, and a steady hand during difficult times. Their belief in caring for others with honesty and respect remains at the heart of everything we do.

Today, that tradition continues as we serve Macon County with the same spirit of compassion and community that defined our beginnings in 1991.
