Obituary for Joseph L. ""Joe"" Ledbetter

Joseph L. Ledbetter, 73, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2007.

A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Lyman and Lassie Anderson Ledbetter. He was preceded in death by a brother Harry Ledbetter who died in 1987 and a sister, Blanche Southard who died in 2007. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post 108. He worked for Denny Ledford Construction and was an avid sportsman. Joe was a member of the Abraham Masonic Lodge No. 8 AF & AM and Kosair Shrine Temple, Louisville, Kentucky.

He is survived by a daughter, Vicky Montgomery of Asheville, NC; five sisters, Essie Dills and Mary Bridges both of Franklin, Dorothy Crisp, Janie Bishop and Wilma Ledbetter all of Canton; two brothers, Charlie Ledbetter and David Ledbetter both of Franklin; one grandchild, Taylor Montgomery; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Dryman and Rev. Wade Waldroop will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the VFW Post 7339, American Legion Post 108 and Junaluskee Masonic Lodge No. 145.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, at Macon Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Oasis Shrine Temple (Shriners Hospital for Children), PO Box 560666, Charlotte, NC 28256.

Pallbearers will be Jay Gibson, Denny Ledford, Gary Roper, Tim Neely, Vic Kimsey and Al Slagle.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Donnie Stanley, Ross Shields, Charles Dowdle, Chuck Seigel.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
