William Humphrey Garland (Bill)

We have all lost a giant of a man. I have lost the nearest thing to a brother that I ever had and am proud to have been able to spend time with him and "Judy" in the past many years when Monica, Christie and I visited them in the home they built on "Garland Hill". He faced the Japanese on Guadacanal when just a teenager and came through the Pacific war with well earned medals and a steller record as a U.S. Marine. His hero was Chesty Puller and in my mind he lived his life on a level equal to that of his boyhood guide and mentor. He was one of the four of us Garland first cousins left, and he leaves only 3. Our line is running out but his legacy and positive influence on others and our history will live forever. A fond farewell but never to be forgotten.
