Condolence From: Joseph Hernandez
Condolence: My deepest Condolences on your Son (Alan)

I first met Alan in 1978 in fort Knox Kentucky, we ended up in Schweinfurt Germany together in 1982 we shared a lot of good times together along with my family, Alan and Linus, and John, and Scotty were always together, on our off duty hours. Since I was the only who was married and with kids, our home ended up as the place to go in the weekends, my family loved this guys. We stayed in touch through out the years, in 1989 Alan came to my daughters

Condolence: Deeply sorry, very heartfelt wishes towards the family. What a Guy! A smile that could knock anyone over. He was a true friend of ours. We have been exchanging e-mails, phone calls, visits back & forth & vacation trips for the past 5 years, and we will truly miss his presence in our lives as we loved him very much as a good friend. His beloved Rosco will miss him too, we hope he'll have a good home to roam about....

Condolence From: Irene J Armstrong
Condolence: I cannot believe that Alan is gone. I met Alan in 1980 while he, John McManus, Steve Armstrong, and Steve(?) were on their way to the campgrounds at Opryland for a weekend of fun. Steve Armstrong was to later become my husband, but Alan and John were just like an extension of Steve. The three of them went everywhere together and were the best of friends. It was almost as if I married all three of them. Alan was in my wedding and after my marriage, he was at my house every weekend from Saturday morning to Sunday evening, or at least so it seemed. There was a little group of us all stationed at Ft Knox. John McManus, the Hernandez's, the Johnson's, the Gomez's, and us. We partied together, worked together, and basically were each others family while away from our homes. We went on to go to Germany where we were all stationed together. Alan was known to my children as Uncle Alan and babysat for us many times. The girls adored him. The memories I have of Alan are of him being goofy, silly, sweet, caring, and most of all, my dear friend. My fondest memories are of a birthday party for my girls where Alan is wearing a Frog Crown and being aggravated by my dog Bear. Bear loved Alan and took great pleasure in the fact that whenever Alan came into our house, he would lift his leg and "moisten" Alan's leg. I could go on and on but I won't. Surfice it to say that I loved Alan, as all of my family did, and even though we did not speak everyday after he left the Army, we did stay intouch a few times a year. He was part of my family and I will miss his crazy laugh, his silly ways, and the fact that even though he was a grown man, he never lost that part of him that was still a little boy. He will always remain in my heart and even though my girls are now 32 years old, he is still Uncle Alan to them. To me, he is and always will be "my little brother."

Condolence: My deepest sympathy goes out to Alan's family and friends. I knew Alan through my work at Smoky Mountain Chevrolet. He was a really nice guy and had a real zest for living. I also knew Damien O'Neil and understood how close their friendship was. I will miss talking with them both.

Condolence From: Joyce Harville
Condolence: I have known Alan ever since his brother Carl married my sister Jodi. I have always known that Carl is a wonderful man and the second I met Alan, I knew he was just like him. Alan was a wonderful person. I was not very close to him, but I know that he had a wonderful spirit & personality and lived life to the fullest (I admire that!). He will be greatly missed. My absolute deepest sympathy goes out to Ron & Della, along with Carl and the rest of Alan's wonderful family. His parents did such a fine job raising him and Carl, as am sure the rest of the kids as well. Please let me know if there is anything I can do, and know that your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Joyce
