Obituary for Alan James Martin

Alan James Martin, 49, of Sapphire, NC, died suddenly on Monday, April 9, 2007 in an airplane accident.

Born in Caribou, Maine, he was raised on a potato farm in Hamlin, Maine. He was the son of Ronald and Della Deveau Martin. Alan served in the U.S. Army for 10 years. He was property manager for E.L.D. Properties. Alan will be remembered for his love of life and adventurous spirit. He enjoyed many hobbies including scuba diving, boating, dirt bike riding and riding his Harley. Alan was of the Catholic faith.

In addition to his parents, Ronald and Della Martin, he is survived by his faithful Boykin Spaniel, Rosco; three brothers, Ronald P. Martin of Boca Raton, FL, Kevin Martin and wife Denise of New Britain, CT and Carl Martin and wife Jodi of Hiram, GA; three sisters, Jean Martin of Caribou, Maine, Ruth Morrow of Rochester, New Hampshire and Monica Bearden of Presque Isle, Maine; ten nieces and nephews; and one grand nephew.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 13, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Vic Greene, Father Matthew Kauth and the VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108 will officiate. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date in Van Buren, Maine. Burial will be in Hamlin, Maine.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
