Obituary for Truman Arnold Rogers

Truman Arnold  Rogers
Truman Arnold Rogers, 76, of Franklin, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014.

Born in Macon Co, he was the son of the late Arnold Rickman Rogers and Callie Green Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Elmo Rogers and sisters, Nell Varney and Juanita Deere. Truman was owner of Rogers Gas Island and former owner of Franklin’s Finest Sawmill. He loved logging, fishing and traveling. He was a charter member of South Macon Baptist Church, where he was very active. Second to God, his family was most important in his life.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Swafford Rogers; four children, Vikki Turk and husband Milton of Flowery Branch, GA, Debbie Reed and husband Rick of Buford, GA, Rick Rogers and wife Jennifer of Franklin and Linda Craven and husband Glenn of Stockbridge, GA; eight grandchildren, Captain John Turk and fiancée, Danielle, First Lieutenant Nathan Turk and wife Victoria, David Rogers, Cody Rogers, Derrick Reed, Devin Reed, Nicole Reed, Brad Baker and Matt Baker; one great-granddaughter, Rylee Rogers; brother-in-law, Kenneth Deere and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18th at South Macon Baptist Church. Reverends Steve Reeves, Albert Gray and Lewis Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Louisa Chapel UMC Cemetery.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be David Rogers, Cody Rogers, Derrick Reed, Devin Reed, Brad Baker, Matt Baker and nephews, Mark Hardin and Mike Hardin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to South Macon Baptist Church, P.O. Box 441, Franklin, NC 28744.
