Franklin, NC: Winifred Colleen McFadden was born to Edward M. and Olive S. Hark McFadden in Smith Center, Kansas, on December 18, 1934. She was 87 years old when she passed from this life in Franklin, NC, on October 7, 2022. Even though Colleen was born in a small town in Kansas, she was not a small town girl. She never wanted to stay in just one place and managed to travel the world during her lifetime. She was a classy lady who excelled in high end fashion sales including jewelry and dresses for weddings and other special occasions. A social butterfly who loved people, she was known as a genuine person who had high ethical standards and spoke her mind. Colleen was resilient and dependable. She had many interests and led an active and exceptional life. She was an artist, producing works on both canvas and porcelain. She loved visiting museums and had a special regard for Great Britain's royal family. She knew their history as well as the royal lineage. She was an Elvis fan and enjoyed listening to the Blues. Colleen also loved cats and was the owner of five black cats, each named Thomas, during her lifetime. Most of all, however, Colleen loved her family and provided them with many wonderful memories. She is survived by her life partner of 39 years, Bryan Spooner of Franklin; her sons, Mitchell Shane Wyman (Kris) and Stuart McFadden (Karen) both of Charleston, SC; her grandchildren, Maggie, Tina, Joshua, and Dakoda; and her great-grandson, Mason. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mona Isom; and her brothers, Stanley, Zane, and Jerry McFadden. Memorial contributions may be made to CarePartners Hospice, 170 Church Street, Franklin, NC 28734, or a local animal shelter.
