Obituary
William "Hess" Ray, 95, of Alton, MO, formerly of Franklin, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.
Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late John William and Georgia Wishon Ray. Hess was preceded in death by three brothers, William Clinton Ray, Burl Wayne Ray, and Willard Ray; and two sisters, Gassie Ray Gilbert and Gladys Ray Welch. He faithfully served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean conflict. He was Baptist faith and was always studying religion.
Hess is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 17 at 11am in the Briartown Baptist Church cemetery. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS, 66675-8516.
