Obituary
William "Scotty" Hiles, 88, of Franklin, formerly of Miami, FL, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2013.
Born in Westmoreland Co., PA, he was the son of the late Harry G. Hiles and Edna Jane Scott Hiles. Scotty was a US Army veteran and served during WWII. He worked as a carpenter, systems analyst and public school teacher; was a member of the League of Women Voters, Friends of the Library, Democratic Party and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. Scotty enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy "Dotty" Billups Hiles; two daughters, Linda Brown of Miami, FL and Janet Hiles of Coral Gables, FL; three grandchildren, Angela Gicewicz, Teresa Vaughan and Daniel Rodriguez; three great grandchildren, Jenna Gicewicz, Teddy Gicewicz and Rebecca Vaughan and several cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Franklin, NC.
