The Higdon family, with heavy hearts, announces the peaceful passing of our beloved brother, William George Higdon, on July 15th,2026. George was born in Asheville, N.C. on July 13th,1964 to his loving parents Joseph Huffman Higdon Jr. and Carolyn DeWeese Higdon. He was a 1982 graduate of A.C. Reynolds High School, he then went on to receive a degree in Horticulture at Haywood Technical College in 1984. After graduation he moved to Atlanta G.A. to start his supervisory job at AAA Landscaping. After several years he returned to live on the family farm in Higdonville N.C. Once there, George along with his father and brother (Bruce) started their own business, Higdon’s Monuments and Memorials and Higdon II Landscaping in Franklin, N.C.

After the passing of his father in 1988, he moved on to the estate of his great uncle, William Logan Higdon, in town (Big House), and became the Maintenance Manager and assistant to his beloved uncle. George was also a loving caregiver to his sick parents and later moved to Ohio to care for his sister. After a decade he returned to Higdonville.

When George became unwell, he moved to his sister’s (Mary Lee) home in Franklin where she cared for him until his passing. In addition to his parent’s, he was preceded in death by his oldest brother Micheal, his beloved brother Bruce. He is survived by his brother Joe Higdon (Kathy) in Asheville, sister Stephanie Higdon of Ohio, and sister Mary Lee Higdon Blaine of Franklin, N.C. George wished to recognize his childhood lifelong best friend, Randy Spillars of Asheville N.C. and, close friends Sam McRae and Phil Higdon of Franklin, several nieces and nephews, and all his friends and cousins in Higdonville. George leaves behind many friends and former girlfriends who have reached out to the family, their condolences are greatly appreciated. We will miss his beautiful blue eyes, his humor and wit, along with his great smile. The family also wishes to send a special Thank You to Heath Higdon, Jason Clay and, Juleigh Dowdle Rogers. A private graveside service will be scheduled in a few weeks. Donations may be made in memoriam to Higdonville Baptist Church.
