Obituary
William Raymond Barr, 80, of Franklin, NC, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023.
He was born in San Diego, CA, to the late William Harold and Lucretia Noble Barr. He resided most of his life in south Florida and moved to Macon County in 1998. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a firefighter and paramedic for 30 years. He retired as Chief of Rescue from the City of Hollywood, Florida in 1998. He loved working on antique cars, collecting tractors, hunting, fishing, sailing, and raising canaries.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Skufca Barr; son, Bill Barr (Becky); sister, Carol Collins of Lady Lake, FL; two grandchildren, Sarah Amelia Barr of Durham, NC and Matthew James Barr of Norfolk, VA.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Joey Gibson with the Community Paramedic Program, Patti Wheeler, MD, and Harris Home Health Care.
