Virgil A. "Bud" Shewbart

Lieutenant Colonel, Virgil A. Shewbart, 89, Franklin NC resident passed away on Wednesday November 28, 2023, after a short illness.

There is so much of Bud that lived between the dates. He was a great father, a good family man and a friend to so many. Bud served in the US Air Force as a Navigator and later as a Weapon Systems Officer. He served in Vietnam and was called upon during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He is survived by his wife, Alice, his sister Virginia, his children, Keith, Kathy, Karen, Seth (Jenny) and nephews Douglas, Michael, nieces Paula, and Janet and many family members. His desire was to be cremated but will make his final service call at military ceremony at a later date. Bud was a selfless man and wanted any respectful memories to go to the Tunnels to Towers or St. Jude Hospital.

Bud made an impact on so many lives and will be missed greatly.
