It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the family announces the untimely passing of Thomas (Tom) Edward Hall. On Friday afternoon, February 28, 2025, Tom, age 71, left his family on earth to be with the Lord and heavenly family members. He was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and brother-in-law.
Tom was born on August 7, 1953, to William Ligah Hall and Bertie Leatherman Hall. He grew up in the Liberty Section, Cowee Community, Franklin, NC, with his two older sisters, two older brothers and a younger sister. Tom was a graduate of Western Carolina University. After leaving college he was employed by Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) for more than 25 years.
In 1990 he met his cherished wife and soul mate, Jill Bell Hall. They were married in Marietta, Georgia in 1991 and, resided in Canton, Georgia. Their marriage resulted in many travels and adventures. Although Tom and Jill lived in Canton, he always longed to eventually return to the mountains in Franklin. His love and dedication to Jill was especially evident by his unwavering care for her during her battle with a terminal illness until her passing in January 2022.
Retirement from MARTA, in March 2022, required many adjustments for Tom while in mourning. His gentle soft-spoken voice, his fun-loving spirit and smile would brighten any room. To have known Tom was not just to love him, but was to be loved by him. He was known for his many desserts while enjoying cooking for his extended families. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Hawks and football. If invited to attend live sporting events he was up and ready to go.
Tom was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, Jill; sister, Mary Lee Hall Bishop; brother William Ralph (Bub) Hall,' brothers-in-law, Ted Bowen; Gary Sutton; and Jewel Ray Bishop. He is survived by sister, Carla Bowen; brother, Ivan Hall (Reba); sister Margaret Hall Sutton (Danny); and sister-in-law, Linda Hyatt Hall (Bub). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Pall Bearers will be Tom's nephews.
