Toby Gene Bateman Sr., 77, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024.
Toby was born in Macon County to the late Gene and Blanche Ledbetter Bateman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Sarah Vinson.
Toby was a very hard worker and worked as a telephone contractor for many years but was best known for being the owner/operator of Bateman's Mobile Home Park in Franklin. He loved to watch westerns and sitting on his porch with his dog Bowzer. He loved having company and spending time with family. Toby also loved his Mustang car. Toby was of the Baptist faith and a member of Coweeta Baptist Church.
Toby is survived by his four children: Toby Gene Bateman Jr., Misti Bateman, Will Bateman, and Jake Bateman. Nine grandchildren; Audrey Bateman, Samantha Bateman, Tony Bateman, Kristina Williamson, Dante Bateman, Mya Bateman, Dejah Provencher, Dorian Provencher, and Ahnika Bateman. Four great-grandchildren; Ethan Pereira, Janelle Pereira, Jack Fasnaugh, and Aksel Fasnaugh. Brother; Barry Bateman (Brenda), Sisters; Karen Keener (Tracy), and Marcia Bateman. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Ashe officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Rush Cemetery.
Barry Bateman, Andrew Shepherd, Gary Rowland, Robert Moore, Bobby Dills, and Dante Bateman will serve as pallbearers.
