Charles Timothy (Tim) Lundy, 67, supportive brother, loving father, joyous grandfather (Pop Pop), talented chef, and food and wine-loving friend, passed away on June 29, 2023.
He was born in Macon, Georgia and settled in Otto, North Carolina in 1997. In 1999, he bought Rosewood Market in Highlands, North Carolina and made the little shop a gourmet attraction. In addition to his business, he left a legacy in the special events industry and raised his beautiful daughter, Kristyn.
Tim is preceded in death by Feral Mason Lundy, his mother, and Charles Edwin Lundy, his father. Tim is survived by his aunt, Pat Lundy; his siblings, Jon (Michelle) and Angela (Steven Pruitt); his daughter, Kristyn (Travis Smith); Kristyn's mother, Sandy Mabry; 4 grandchildren, Wallace James Hewitt, Agatha Smith, Floyd Smith, and Tallulah Smith; his nephew, Ben Lundy; and his niece, Katelyn Lundy.
Tim graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School in Florida and Huntington College in Montgomery, Alabama. He was a culinary artist, working in many restaurants throughout the Southeast. After serving as a chef, his career shifted to special events where he established his company, Distinctive Design Events, and became an international leader in the special events industry. With Distinctive Design events, he produced celebrations for the Olympics, Fortune 100 companies, and private individuals both in North America and abroad in the United Kingdom, Spain, France, and Australia. Tim was an international speaker on culinary design, event and wedding planning, and event design and décor for the Association of Bridal Consultants, The Special Event, the American Rental Association, the National Restaurant Association, the International Caterers Association, the Event Solutions Expo, and the International Special Events Society. He was the founder of the Allie Awards in Atlanta and one of the founding members of the International Special Events Society. He served as President of the International Caterers Association (ICA) and was an ICA member for many years. In 2009, he contributed recipes to the ICA's Inside the Recipe Box of the Catering Chef.
Talent and creativity were Tim's extraordinary gifts. He loved to travel and experience all cultures. As a master of ceremonies, he will be remembered for being an exceptional sommelier, stewarding the best food and wine pairings; an expert dining connoisseur, who could always order the best selections for the table; a traveling chauffeur with the best recommendations for sights and tastes; and the maître d' of the elaborate celebrations he curated. Most of all, he is best remembered for the cherished moments he shared with friends and loved ones.
A celebration of his life will be held August 6, 2023, at The Vineyard at High Holly, 37 High Holly Rd., Scaly Mountain, North Carolina 28775.
