Obituary

Suzanne Morgan Dilthey, 93, of Otto, NC passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

Suzanne was born in Enoree, SC to the late Dumah and Doyle Savage Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Albert. They met at Auburn University where she received a BA in education. She was also preceded by her brother Harold Morgan and sister-in-law Estelle.

She taught elementary school in Key West FL while Albert served on a submarine for the US Navy. Following their move to Pittsfield, MA Suzanne began taking art classes. Under the tutelage of renowned painter William J Schultz she became an accomplished artist and teacher. Over the years she taught art classes, gave workshops and traveled to various countries to study and teach. She was a member of the Pastel Society of America and a founding member of the Studio Alive group in Highlands NC.

Suzanne is survived by her daughters, Susan Dilthey of Newnan, GA and Nancy Dilthey of Otto, NC and also her beloved cat Sutton.

Relatives include Nickie Bass (Jimmy), Jane Shealy (Joey), Paul Morgan (Amber) all of South Carolina, David Morgan (Donna) of North Carolina, Dawn Shellock (Robert) of New Jersey, and David Dawley (Ruth) of Rhode Island.

We wish to thank CarePartners Hospice Care of Franklin and our wonderful helpers. They were and remain a great comfort!

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 12 at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church at 1:30 PM. Pastor Tommy Jordan will officiate.
