Susan A. Bishop, 65, of Franklin, died Oct. 3, 2022, at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville.

Susan was born June 15, 1957 in Media, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late William and Ruth Carrigan Bishop. She attended Wake Forest University, where she earned a master's degree in psychology. She later worked as an editor for several consumer and trade magazines.

Susan never met a stranger, and friends and family valued her wit and humor along with her loving and caring nature. She could not drive past stray dogs, and she risked life and limb to carry turtles across the road to safety. She will be dearly missed.

Susan is survived by her husband, Lee Buchanan of Franklin; daughter, Maggie Conner and son-in-law Ben Pannenbacker of Morganton; and beloved grandchildren Owen, Ellis and Liam. She is also survived by a sister, Jodi Bishop Macko (husband John), and nephew William Edward Macko (wife Amber Wiggins) and his son Jameson Keith Macko.
