Shirley Jean Pellicer of Franklin, NC passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Shirley was born February 11, 1941, to the late Quentin and Mae Highsmith of Jacksonville, Florida.
Shirley graduated from Andrew Jackson High School and attended Florida State University. She was a successful realtor for many years. She later furthered her education by attending Florida Junior College for a nursing degree. She took great pride in taking care of others by working as a registered nurse for many years. Shirley has always loved the mountains of Franklin, NC and the rich family history it holds. Her favorite time of the year was fall and watching the leaves change. Her retirement years were filled with traveling, gardening, painting, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 46 years, Donald F. Pellicer, and her loving stepchildren, Cindy McEver and Jacqueline Mack.
Shirley is survived by her children: Mark (Robin) Doolittle, Karyn (John) Congressi, Craig (Laura) Doolittle, and Matthew (Kristi) Pellicer; grandchildren: Barry Congressi, Jordan (Daniel) Reid, Cade (Leela) Doolittle, Marissa (Dillan) Ward, Chase (Sloan) Doolittle, Blaine Doolittle, and great-granddaughter Arabella Ward; her sister Catherine (Ted) Bryan; and stepchildren Gregory Pellicer, Stephen (Maria) Pellicer, and Michele (Bill) Bennett, along with numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Shirley's kindness and love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A graveside service will be held at San Lorenzo Cemetery in St. Augustine, FL on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 12pm.
