Shirley Leitner Martin, 88, of Franklin, went home to be with Jesus, on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.

Born in Okeechobee, FL, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Leitner and Bettie Elizabeth Dean Leitner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years, DTHD Simeon Banks Martin, Sr.; one brother, Marvin; and three sisters, Grace, Janie, and Patsy. Mrs. Martin was a member of Iotla Baptist Church, the Sew-n-Sews, and the Macon County Beekeeper Association. She was also recognized as a Master Gardner.

Shirley is survived by her son, Simeon "Banks" Martin of Panama City, FL; daughter, Mary Brooks (Jimmy) of Pine Log, FL; four grandchildren, Joseph Brooks (Suzanne), Christopher Brooks (Ania), Randall Brooks (DeAnn), and Ashley Martin Ethridge (Nicholas Justice); and eleven great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at Iotla Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 14 at 2pm. Rev. Brandon Breedlove and Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Burial will be in the Iotla Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm, one hour prior to the service at the church.

The pallbearers will be Tommy Bennett, grandsons, and great grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Iotla Baptist Church cemetery fund.
