Shirley Loraine Calloway Bowman, age 78, of Franklin, North Carolina, passed away on November 21, 2025.

Mrs. Bowman was born on November 18, 1947, the daughter of the late Jeff Calloway and Ruth Cordelia Mchann Calloway. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Delia Bunch, Elizabeth Geames, and Mary Helen Norman; and two brothers, Larry G. Calloway and Robert D. Calloway.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Mitchell Bowman, whom she married on February 14, 1975; two children, Marian Bullock and Russell Bowman; one sister, Debra Russell; one brother, Jim L. Calloway; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Betty Rogers, Joyce Bishop, and Sue Johnson.

Mrs. Bowman was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and later earned her associate degree in early childhood development from Southwestern Community College. She taught children at MVP and was known for her love of flowers and the joy she found in watching birds and squirrels from her home.

Visitation will be held at Macon Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home with Reverends Mike Fox and David Lee Williams officiating.

Burial will be in Ridgecrest Baptist Church Cemetery following the service.
