Sara A. Taylor, a resident of Franklin, NC, died Saturday, January 11, 2014 at her home.
She was born in Van Wert, Ohio to Truman H. and Pauline C. Abbott, who predeceased her.
She graduated from the Ohio State University with a major in Radio and Television and did some postgraduate work at the University of Cincinnati. She was a Continuity Writer for WBNS-TV in Columbus prior to working in Public Relations in Cincinnati and Florida. Prior to her move to North Carolina in 1985, she was with Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, Florida, as Director of Personnel for almost 20 years. She became the first hospital director of Personnel to be elected as President of Brevard Personnel Association, which organization consisted mostly of Aerospace and Cape Kennedy executives. She also was a past member of the State of Florida Heart Association where she served as a member of the Board of Trustees and held the office of Secretary. In Franklin, she worked with her husband in his CPA firm for many years, prior to opening her shop, Sara's Antiques in Dillard, Georgia in 1998.
She is survived by her husband, George C. Taylor of the home. Also surviving are her son Mark Hagen of Hawaii, son Kirk Hagen of Tampa, Florida, daughter Julia and her husband Doug Brantley of Tampa, Florida and daughter Melinda and husband Randy Fowler of Cleveland, Georgia and nine grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Florida.
