Russell Lyle Northrup, 95, of Franklin, NC, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Mr. Northrup was born in Lansing, Michigan, to the late Forry Northrup and Helen Bell Pratt.
Russell was a loving father and grandfather. He was a member of Son Rise Ministries, an ordained instructor in the faith, and loved the Lord with all his heart. He joined the Navy at age 17, in 1947. He served in Vietnam and was in the Cuban Blockade. He served as an instructor and navigator while on aircraft carrier duty and was an air traffic controller. He spent 22 years serving our Country before retiring. After retiring he was self-employed in the upholstery business and home repair. After God, he put his family first and always kept them together.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Margaret Northrup; two sons-in-laws, Woodie Woodall and Brian Curtis.
He is survived by seven children, Linda Gibbs (Glenn), Russell Northrup, Teresa Cartwright (Wayne), Debra Burnett (Bill), Janet Curtis, Pam Woodall, and Ella Lebby; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at a later date.
