Ronnie Dale Givens, age 75, passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord. Born in Statesville, North Carolina, on June 9, 1951, he was the son of the late Bristol and Lillie May White Givens.
A proud lifelong resident, Ronnie lived in Statesville for 70 years before spending his last five cherished years in Otto, North Carolina. Known for his unwavering work ethic, he was extremely hardworking throughout his life and was dedicated to providing for those he cared about most.
Ronnie’s faith and devotion to God were central to everything he did. For many years, he was a very active member of his home church, Troutman Church of God in Troutman, where he served on the Pastor’s Council, participated in Sunday School, and volunteered with the church food bank. Upon moving to Macon County, he became a faithful member of the Franklin Church of God, continuing his servant’s heart through Vacation Bible School, Children’s Ministry, and chaperoning youth trips.
Above all else, Ronnie was a true family man. He loved his family deeply and found immense joy in his role as a grandfather. In his spare time, he was an avid sports fan who loved watching football and baseball.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of many years, Kathy Elmore Givens, who passed away 11 years ago; and three siblings: Alice, Shirley, and Terry.
He is survived by his two loving children, Timothy Givens (Shannon) and Tamra Chapman (Jeremy); five treasured grandchildren, Keturah Holland, Kaitlyn Stevenson, Kirstin Stevenson, Cejaye Stevenson, and Anna Chapman, and; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, and two special friends, Opal Douglas and Arlene Hayes.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Franklin Church of God. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 4:00 PM at the church, with Reverends Ricky Brewer, Hank Conner, and David Hastings officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Student Ministry at Franklin Church of God, P.O. Box 717, Franklin, NC 28744.
Arrangements through Macon Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.maconfuneralhome.com.
