Obituary

Robert "Bob" Karch Wenger, 81, of Franklin, went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2024. Mr. Wenger was born on October 18, 1942, in Greenwich, Connecticut, to the late Paul and Nancy Wenger.

He joined the Air Force and attended Trinity College, Air Force War College in Montgomery, Alabama. He received his MBA from Trinity, and began his career with the Air Force. Bob retired from the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving honorably for twenty-eight years as a C-130 Pilot. He served in Viet-Nam as well as in Operation Desert Shield/Storm. During his career he attained many Decorations, Medals, Badges, Citations, and Campaign Ribbons including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medals, Air Medal, Distinguished -Presidential unit citation, Joint Meritorious Unit award, an AF Outstanding Unit Award with Valor.

Bob was of the Baptist Faith and was a member at Holly Springs Baptist Church for over ten years. He loved spending time with family and friends. Bob was a member of the Quiet Birdmen, The Order of Daedalians, and the NRA. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, gardening, and studying the stock market.

Mr. Wenger is survived by his wife Charlene of fifty-six years. In addition, he is survived by two daughters, Lora Booher (Brad), of Byron Center, MI, Jan Wenger (Pep), of Franklin, NC; one son, Bobby Wenger Jr., of Franklin, NC; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on July 20, 2024, at 11:00am, at Holly Springs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am prior to the service. Pastor Steve Reeves will officiate.

Bobby Wenger, Pep Wenger, Brad Booher, Ryan Finch, Aaron Finch, and Riley Wenger will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Holly Springs Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital ( www.stjude.org/donate ).
