Obituary

Robert Lee McCauley, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born in Travelers Rest, SC on July 25, 1942, and grew up in Ft. Pierce, Florida. Known to many simply as "Lee," he led a life marked by service, compassion, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.

Lee attended Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, where he met and married the love of his life, Betty Vossberg McCauley. After graduating, Lee proudly served in the United States Army for 13 years, achieving the rank of Major. His commitment to justice and rehabilitation led him to a career as a probation officer, serving in Lawrenceville and later in Athens, Georgia.

Following the death of his first wife, Betty, to cancer, Lee found love again with Donna Suzanne Spaduzzi McCauley. They were united by shared loss—Suzanne's first husband also passed from cancer—and provided each other companionship and healing. They resided in Franklin, North Carolina; Umatilla, Florida; and most recently, Cumming, Georgia.

Lee is survived by his second wife Suzanne; his children, Carl Lee McCauley (Angie) and their children Morgan, Dillon, and Amberly; Lynne McCauley Wiesecke (Sascha) and their children Katie (Jonathan), Alex, and Mikey; as well as Jody McCauley Ervin (Ryan) and their children Jacob (Xifan) and Kellie. He is also survived by his grandson Robert Cole McCauley (Taylor), the son of his late daughter Laura Elizabeth McCauley.

Lee was preceded in death by his first wife Betty, his daughter Laura, his father Carl Lee McCauley of Ft. Pierce, FL, stepmother Mary Frances McCauley of Ft. Pierce, FL, and biological mother Ethel Baker McCauley.

Lee will be remembered for his strong moral compass, generous spirit, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with his quiet strength and kind heart.
