Robert Eugene Donaldson, 73, of Franklin, NC passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025, after a long period of declining health.

Mr. Donaldson was born in Rock Hill, SC. He was the son of the late Robert Carl Donaldson and the late Daphne Duvall Simmonds. He spent his early childhood in Rock Hill and moved to Franklin as a teenager. Mr. Donaldson was a member of Iotla Baptist Church.

Mr. Donaldson spent his career in telecommunications, working for Western Carolina Telephone, Contel, GTE, and Verizon. He retired after more than 30 years of service. In his later decades he loved hosting friends and family and the quiet solitude of his mountain home.

Mr. Donaldson is survived by two sons, Christopher Donaldson of Lyman, SC and Justin Donaldson of Atlanta, GA; two grandsons, Boden and Nolan; a brother, Gary Donaldson of Raleigh, NC, and three nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home in Franklin on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 11:00am with Rev. Steve Reeves officiating. Visitation will be 10-11am. Interment will be in the Iotla Baptist Church Cemetery.
