Rob Henderson, age 76, of Franklin, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024 from complications due to asbestos exposure while serving in the United States Navy.

Rob was born in New York, New York to the late Vincent Frederick Henderson and Katherine Von Hinken Henderson.

Always a boy at heart, he enjoyed any activity that kept him outside- whether it be snow skiing, mountain biking, and kayaking. It was that same boyish spirit that the Lord used in Rob to minister to hundreds of children through his ping pong ministry at Heritage United Methodist Church in Clearwater, Florida.

Later moving to the Atlanta area, Rob worked for Georgia Systems Operation in various capacities.

Following retirement, Rob and Carlene moved to Franklin where they lived life to the fullest. Rob continued his love for the outdoors and enjoyed taking art and gem mining classes with Carlene. Together, they enjoyed drawing, painting, and becoming "rock hounds" together. They were attending Catalyst Church in Hayesville.

Rob's faith and active life, carried over into his family. He was the epitome of what a husband, father, and Papa should be.

In addition to his parents, Rob was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Henderson.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carlene; two daughters and sons in law, Robyn and Scott, and Caryn and Joseph; five grandchildren, Bailey, Logan, Henry, Violet, and Jake; and his faithful four legged companions, Coco aka Scout, and Miss Kitty.

A celebration of Rob's life will take place at 3:00 P.M. Friday, December 6, 2024 in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home with Reverend Margaret Freeman and the family officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the VFW/ American Legion Honor Guard, 85 Vester Ledford Road, Franklin, NC 28734; or to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
