Richie H. Beale of Black Mountain, NC, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.
He was born March 31, 1950, in Macon County, NC and was a 1968 graduate of Franklin High School. He was a Christian and a member of the Ellijay Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry A. Beale and his mother, Sarah Ammons Beale. Richie was a proud veteran who faithfully served in the United States Army.
He graduated from Southwestern Community College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Environmental Science. He received Bachelor of Science Degrees in Chemistry and Environmental Health from Western Carolina University and attended Rice University, majoring in Environmental Science. His employment history included working for the US Forest Service at Coweeta Hydrologic Laboratory in Otto, NC, and Southwestern Labs/Maxim Technologies in Houston and Dallas, TX. Upon his retirement, he returned to Western NC and started his own company providing environmental consulting/sub consulting services to Martin & Slagle Geo Enviromental Associates and other engineering/consulting companies in the Southeast.
He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Denise J. Martin of Black Mountain, NC; brother, Ronnie Beale (Cissy) of Franklin, NC; his children, Kristi Culpepper (Joe) of Otto, NC, Christopher Beale (Kristi) of League City, TX; and his stepchildren, Jason (Janelle), Jeremy, and Heather Pierce of Asheville, NC. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Ashleigh Holland, Brinkley Culpepper, Dylan Beale, Ryan Beale, Kenedy, Lydia, Landon, Belamy, Autumn, Rose and Jackson Pierce; and two great grandchildren, Fenway and Huckaby Holland.
Richie loved his God and his family. He liked to laugh, work hard, and play hard. He cherished his friends and was always willing to help them if he could. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing.
A Celebration of Life will be at 12pm on Tuesday, October 24 in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves and Mike Raby will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends from 11am to 12pm, prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.
