Randy Kathleen (Kathy) Massung Doherty, age 73, passed away Monday, May 27th while a patient at a hospice care center located in Asheville, NC.

She was born in Miami, Florida September 15,1950 to Robert and Marcella Massung. After graduating from Southwest Miami High, Kathy worked for Southern Bell Telephone where she met her first husband. They soon left their jobs there & began driving a semi on long haul trips. Yes, Kathy had her trucking license & shared with the driving until they retired the semi & moved to Franklin, NC. then later parted ways. Kathy eventually moved back to Miami where she met her second husband Franklin Doherty who had also worked for Southern Bell Telephone. After they married, they lived in Florida, Georgia & Franklin over the years as each transfer came about with his job. While living in Franklin, Kathy waited tables at her family's restaurant the Hickory Ranch. Frank later retired so they decided to settle in Jacksonville, Florida where they remained until his passing in October. They had been together 42 years.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Robert Massung, husband Franklin Doherty and sister Patricia Massung. Survived by her mother Marcella Massung, sisters Melinda Massung & Alicia Gooder (husband Guy) & one brother Robert Massung Jr.
