Roy Pinkney Corbin, 77, of Franklin, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, November 9, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Pinkney was born in Macon County, the son of the late Roy Jackson Corbin and Marie Crisp Corbin. He was one of the longtime elders and deacon of Central Baptist Church. Pinkney loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and just being outdoors, especially with his grand and great-grandchildren, who were the lights of his life.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Wanda Lequire Corbin; two sons, Shane Corbin (Kim) of Franklin, and Scotty Corbin (Nikki) of Franklin; three grandchildren, Jake Corbin (Teia), Kaylee Marr (John), and Kaycee Johnson (Damon); six great grandchildren, Memphis, Charlie Rose, Lucy, Trevor, J.R, and Shane Christopher; and soon to be great grandbaby Johnson. He is also survived by one sister, Patsy Sellers of Franklin; two brothers, Tommy Corbin of Woodstock, GA, and Eddie Corbin of Saluda, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Celebration of Life will be on Monday, November 13, at 2pm in the Smoky Mountain Performing Arts Center. Rev. Matt Shuler and Rev. Billy Sellers will officiate, with special remarks from Scotty Corbin and Jake Corbin.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 12 from 6pm to 8pm at Macon Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Holly Springs Baptist Church cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Corbin, Memphis Corbin, Damon Johnson, John Marr, Ray Gill, David Anderson, Joe Hilliard, Lewis Ashe, Dave Dupstadt, Ray Alonzo, Lloyd Mashburn, and Jonathan Anderson.
