Patricia Ann McConnell Craig, 76, of Franklin, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Fred McConnell Sr. and Dorothy Mae Long McConnell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Tallent, and her brother, Freddie McConnell. Patricia was a devoted member of Black Mountain Baptist Church and carried her faith with her throughout her life.
Pat lived a life full of simple joys and deep connections. She loved cooking for her family, shopping for little treasures, and spending time at auctions where she never failed to find something interesting. Weekends often found her “loafing around,” relaxing and enjoying the slower moments of life. She cherished time spent socializing with her friends, and she never missed an opportunity to dance something that brought her pure happiness. Above all, Patricia loved her family fiercely and wholeheartedly, and they were the center of her world.
She is survived by her children, Dwayne Tallent (Mary Jo) and Dwight Tallent; her siblings, Clara Bell Tallent, Rebecca McConnell, and Elbert McConnell (Martha); and her former husband, Kenneth Craig. Patricia leaves behind four grandchildren, Jacob Tallent (Hayley), Coleman Tallent, Zachary Tallent (Bailey), and Hannah Edwards (Donnie); eleven great grandchildren, Sutton, Knox, Zane, Jase, Krimzon, Karter, Kayden, Kohen, Beckham, and Sophie and Emerson Keith; and five step grandchildren, Nick, Katie, Bethany, Brad, and Delaney. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, along with her special friend, Mary Nelson, who held a meaningful place in her life.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at Black Mountain Baptist Church on Saturday, February 7th, 2026, at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Tracy Tallent and Reverends Cale Stancil and Danny Cannon officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM.
