Obituary

Pamela Carole Marett passed away on October 27, 2026, Pam was born September 14, 1950, and raised in Arlington, Texas to Olive Jean Cannon Marett and Norman Charles Marett.

After undergraduate school Pam found her way to Oconee County NC working for the county Department of Social services. From here she was able to enjoy visiting her parents' home in Otto NC,

She returned to school and received her Master's degree in economics at Clemson University and PhD in Economics at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. She then proceeded to NC State University to teach Economics for 4 years before accepting a position at the University of Oregon. While she loved it there, she could not resist the opportunity to accept a position with an airline based at JFK airport as head of human resources and labor relations. Pam thrived here and made life- long friends. She also enjoyed her home two blocks from the beach.

While living in Long Island she made the decision to adopt her son Aleksandr Nikolayevich, aka Peyton Marett, from central Siberia. He was the great joy and love in her life. To better care and devote more time to her son, she returned to academics in a small teaching university in far West Texas.

Pam retired and moved to Otto, which over the decades she had considered home. Here she was active in her church, Dryman's Chapel, and in the community with the Otto Garden Club, Franklin Women's Club, Republican Women, Carolina Mountain Ladies Golf Association, and Blue Ridge Pickleball.

Pam is predeceased by her parents, her brother Richard Charles Marett, and all beloved Aunts and Uncles. She is survived by her son Peyton (Cortney) of Raleigh, grandson William, sister-in-law Janet, nephew Christopher (Stephanie) of Iowa, niece Rebecca Passi (Christopher) of Minnesota, great nephews Alexander, Owen, Ben, and great niece Kiera. She is also survived by her very loved cousins in North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Oregon, and California,

Pam was loving, kind, and joyful. She will be missed.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 31st, from 1-2pm at Macon Funeral Home with service following in the Chapel at 2pm. Burial will be in the Rush cemetery.
