Pamela Penland Goldsmith, 77, of Canton, GA, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024. Pamela was born on March 10, 1947, in Asheville, NC to the late Robert and Helen Penland. Pamela graduated from Franklin High School in 1965 and attended the University of Miami before marrying her high school sweetheart, Fred Goldsmith. The couple moved often for Fred's coaching career, and Pam adopted a philosophy of blooming where she was planted, becoming a role model for the other coach's wives and a surrogate mom to hundreds of football players. She used her artistic gifts of decorating and rose gardening to create beautiful homes in each new location. A licensed realtor, Pam had a successful real estate career before retiring from Prudential Markham Bankston in Franklin, NC.
However, Pamela's lifelong passions were her love for God and serving her neighbors. Second Mile Ministries in Holly Springs Baptist Church is one of five benevolence ministries that she founded to meet the spiritual and material needs of her community. In addition, Pam was a Community Advisory Committee Volunteer for the NC Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, inspecting WNC nursing homes.
She leaves behind her adoring family, husband, Fred; sister Penny Ross (Bill); daughter, Kimberly McDaniel (Joel); daughter Robin Park (Clint); grandchildren, Kayla McDaniel, Kinsey Ortega (Rich), Abby Paige Park, Gavin Park; great grandchildren, Asa and Ezra Ortega.
In the last year of her life, Pamela was a resident of The Arbor at Bridgemill in Canton, GA. Her family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate care that she received from the staff of The Arbor at Bridgemill and Trinity Hospice.
The family will receive friends on January 18th from 10-11:00am at Holly Springs Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 11am.
