Member of Bahá'í Faith, loving husband of Irene Freeburg Witherspoon. Whom together were dedicated to unity and service to the world of humanity, family, and community.

Survived and much loved by siblings: Louis (Patricia) Witherspoon, Luke (Juanita) Witherspoon, Sr., and Shirley Johnson. Predeceased by siblings: Lola Grey, James "Butch" Johnson, Lovaine (Louise) White, Oscar (Jeanette) Witherspoon, Garland (Margie) Witherspoon, Sr., and Thelma (George) Waller.

He is Uncle Nathaniel to MANY Nieces, Nephews, and their families.Nathaniel welcomed all people; was intentional about redefining, modeling, and sharing with others about healthy living; and advocated for those less fortunate.
