Mildred Rogers Woods, age 107, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2024.
Mildred was born in the Buck Creek Community of Macon County to the late Dock Manson Rogers and Emma Watson Rogers. She was a lifelong member of Buck Creek Baptist Church.
She enjoyed life on the farm until her passing. Mildred attributed her long life to God's commandment to "Honor thy father and thy mother; so that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee."
Mildred spent her life caring for and loving others. She strived to make the world a better place by encouraging peace and love among everyone.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Woods; son, Rex Woods; sisters and brother, Geneva Moss, Marie Tilson, and Eldon Rogers.
Mildred is survived by her five children, Helen Bolick (Odell), Doyle Woods (Sarah), Gerald Woods (Sandy), Royce Woods ("Zee"), all of Franklin, Debbie Jenkins (David) of Ringgold, Georgia; daughter in law, Margaret Woods of Franklin; sister, Shelby Bankston; brother, Randall Rogers; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will take place at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Buck Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Jamie Passmore and Reverend Randall Rogers officiating. Her grandsons, Garrett Woods, Colton Woods, Ronald Woods, Jonathan Jenkins, Justin Adams, and a grandson from the Bishop family will serve as pallbearers; and the great grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
