Mike Norman, born on October 22, 1960, in Sylva, North Carolina, passed away on December 9, 2024, doing what he loved while surrounded by those who loved him.
Mike was the son of the late Tommy Norman and Doris Henry Norman of Sylva, NC. He was also the grandson of the late Reverend David Norman and brother to the late Vicki Lynn Norman. He is survived by his devoted mother Doris Henry Norman; his brother Doug Norman of Sylva, NC; his sons Justin Norman (Angela) and their daughter Payton of Franklin, NC, and Ty Norman (Brianna) of Franklin, NC; and his beloved wife and soulmate, Sherry McCoy Norman, with whom he shared a love that he often described as "Always and Forever."
A man of deep faith and unwavering devotion to his family, Mike lived a life defined by kindness, honor, and integrity. He had no tolerance for dishonesty or deceit but embraced life with a hardworking spirit and a passion for the things he cherished most: God, family, the mountains, dirt track racing, moonshine, bourbon, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Mike was a master distiller whose unparalleled skill earned him recognition as one of the most awarded in the nation. His craft brought joy to many and left an indelible mark on the world of bourbon. Beyond his professional achievements, Mike's legacy endures in the hearts of his loved ones and friends who were inspired by his character and enriched by his presence.
Though he is deeply missed, Mike's memory will live on through his family, friends, and the remarkable life he led. May his enduring love for those closest to him bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
