Maxine Marie Wilson, age 86, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

She was born on August 13, 1940, in Mount Vernon, Washington, a daughter of the late George Donkelaar and Ruth (Hatfield) Donkelaar. Following her marriage to John Daniel Wilson, the couple relocated from Washington state to Macon County, where she resided for the remainder of her life.

Maxine was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Known for her independent spirit and joyful nature, she enjoyed playing bingo, riding her lawnmower around her property, solving crossword puzzles, and coloring. She was also a devoted animal lover who doted on her beloved dogs, Houdini and Izzy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, John Daniel Wilson, and a sister, Virginia.

She is survived by her daughter, Penny Whiting (Antonio); her son, Michael Scott Donkelaar; stepson, Darren Mitchell Wilson; four grandchildren, Denita Jones, Courtney Stallworth (Everson), Antonio Whiting Jr. (Monica), and Jordan Whiting; and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026, with Cadon Fouts officiating. The family will receive friends during a visitation prior to the service on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
