Maurice "Bernie" Gibson, 59, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015.
Born in Pontiac, Michigan, he was the son of the late Maurice "Mutt" Gibson and Bessie Lee Bishop Gibson. He was a US Navy veteran and was a member of the VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108. Bernie loved to hunt, fish, camp, party and his greatest passion was helping others.
He is survived by one sister, Rose Malott Walsh; one brother, Tommy Gibson; one niece, Tina Malott McConnell; one nephew, Joey McCoy; two great nephews, Austin McConnell and Robert McConnell; one great niece, Ryleigh McConnell; and several cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Andy Cloer will officiate. Burial will be in the Snowhill United Methodist Church Cemetery with military rites conducted by the VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108. Immediately following there will be a Memorial Service for Bob Malott.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, at Macon Funeral Home.
