Malcolm "Roy" Lastinger, 76, went to be with the Lord on September 17, 2023, from the comfort of his home in Franklin, North Carolina. He was born on October 13, 1946, in Moultrie, Georgia to Elvah and Julia Lastinger.
After high school, Roy joined the Navy and proudly served his country. The Navy took him to Pensacola, FL, where he lived for many years. He worked for Westinghouse for almost 20 years before moving to north Georgia. He worked as an over-the-road truck driver for many years as he moved further north, settling in Franklin, NC. His final job was his favorite: driving for Macon Transit in Franklin. He loved serving the community by transporting people around town.
Roy always loved to be outside. He had many hobbies throughout his life, including camping, boating, SCUBA diving, and mudding in his 4x4. Roy could fix or do anything, including car repairs, woodworking, and home repair. He used his talents to help anyone in need.
He served the Lord throughout his life, most recently at Hickory Knoll Methodist Church. He was instrumental at the church's monthly breakfast as "The Egg Man." He provided extraordinary pound cakes for fund-raisers and potlucks. Roy did yard maintenance also, keeping the church cemetery well-maintained.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Joe Kelley and Jim Gundlach.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Servatius; children: Jenny Trahan (BJ), Jay Servatius (Stephanie), and Julie Shearer (Andrew); grandchildren: Drew (Dreama), Cami (Colby), Rylie, Hannah, Samantha, Lina, and Blakely; brother, Roger Lastinger (Kay); brother-in-law, Crist "Buck" Gundlach (Joyce); sisters-in-law, Carol Kelley and Dee Gundlach; 7 nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends.
