Mable Hopper Gregory, 82, of Franklin, NC, went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2024.
She was born in Rabun County, Georgia on May 6, 1941, to the late Alex and Maggie Hopper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gilmer Gregory; a daughter, Tammy Hill: a son Tommy Gregory; one sister Mary Rose Helton; one brother Troy Hopper and two brother-in-laws, James Henry and Joe Pritchett.
Mable was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Riverbend Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Many knew her as she waited tables in Franklin for many years. She enjoyed flower gardens, gardening, and watching her cooking shows. Until her decline in health, she was always faithful to send birthday cards to family, friends, and church members. She will be missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by three sisters, Wanda Pritchett, Cora Henry, and Betty Allen (John); three brothers, Floyd Hopper (Alice), Roy Hopper (Pattie), and Harvey Hopper (Cheryl); a son in law, Donald Hill; a brother-in-law, Hoyt Helton; one granddaughter, Jessica Blanchard; great granddaughters, Elizabeth Rice, Kaylynn Rice, and a great grandson Levi Davis. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Walnut Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The Revs. Steve Cannon, Don Moffitt, and Steve Reeves will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:00 till 1:00pm, prior to the service.
Donald Hill, Keith Henry, David Hopper, Michael Hopper, Stephen Hopper, James Davies, Ryan Zimmerman, and Randy Gregory will serve as pallbearers. The family will be at their respective homes following the service.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the "Sparks Unit" at Macon Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the love and exceptional care they extended to Mable during her 16 months residency.
