Obituary
Luther Oliver Jones, Jr., 89, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015.
Born in Loachapoka, AL, he was the son of the late Luther Oliver Jones, Sr. and Addie Ruffin Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Winton Jones. Luther was a US Army Air Corp veteran of WWII; graduate of Auburn University; retired mechanical engineer from General Electric after 34 years of service; member of First Presbyterian Church and member of the Helion Masonic Lodge #1, Huntsville, AL.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Olean Love Walker Jones; two children, Edward Jackson Jones of Sanford, FL and Susan Elizabeth Jones of Tallahassee, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 9, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108 will serve as Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Westcare Hospice, 132 Sylva Plaza, Sylva, NC 28779 or Wounded Warrior, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675.
Macon Funeral is in charge of the arrangements.
