Lonnie Cletus "Lonzo" Penland, 72, of Franklin, passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 with his loving daughter and granddaughter by his side.

Born in Macon Co, he was the son of the late George Washington Penland and Anita Velma Holland Penland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Georgiana Penland Beach. Lonnie was a US Navy veteran. He enjoyed his friends and telling stories of his younger days as well as listening to country music and most anything his granddaughter played or would sing to him. You would most often find him in his rocking chair drinking his coffee. He never knew a stranger, nor turned away a friend when in need. Lonnie was one of a kind and known by many.

He is survived by two daughters, Tracy Buttler and husband Joe of Oraville, CA and Amelia McCall Dowdle of Franklin; four grandchildren, Jeffery, Adam and Daniel Buttler all of Oraville, CA and Ashlynn Dowdle of Franklin; sister, Glenda Penland of Franklin; two brothers, Radford Penland and wife Sara and Terry Penland both of Franklin; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 7th in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Radford Penland will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
