Laura Elizabeth Woodward, 95, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at Chestnut Hill of Highlands. She was born on February 13, 1930, in Grant, Florida, to the late Dock Verdell Hiott and Laura Elizabeth Smith Hiott.

Laura spent most of her life in Melbourne, Florida, before moving to Franklin, North Carolina, in the early 1990s with her husband. She loved painting, drawing, and gardening pursuits. She was a graduate of Melbourne High School (FL) and Florida State University. She taught at Melbourne Central Catholic High School and Brevard Community College where she helped lead the WENDI program for women entering the workforce.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Ted Woodward; two daughters, Linda Alcoff (Larry) and Vicki Woodward; one brother, John V. Hiott; two grandchildren, Sam Alcoff (Anna Gold) and José Alcoff; and two great‑grandchildren, Arthur and Nina Alcoff.

The family will hold private services at a later date.
