With deep love and heartfelt remembrance, we announce the passing of Kenneth M. Shepherd Sr., age 82, who entered his eternal rest on October 28, 2025. Kenneth was a hardworking, humble, and devoted man whose life reflected faith, integrity, and love for family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Lola Shepherd; his brothers, John, Robert, Raymond, and Steve Shepherd; and his sisters, Jan Younce and Minnie Talley.
Kenneth spent many years in road construction, where he was known for his strong work ethic, steady presence, and dedication to doing every job with excellence. His craftsmanship and commitment can still be seen in the roads and communities he helped build—lasting reminders of a life of honest labor.
Beyond his career, Kenneth also operated a family fruit stand, which became a beloved gathering place for neighbors, friends, and travelers. His friendly smile, good conversation, and the pride he took in his work made every visit special. The fruit stand was more than a business—it was a reflection of his love for the land, his family, and his community.
Above all, Kenneth was a family man. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley Shepherd, and his sons Kenneth Dooley Shepherd and wife Tammy, and Michael Shepherd and wife Pam. His grandchildren brought him great joy: Brandan and wife Rebecca, Tyler and wife Allison, Tanner and fiancée Laikan Brown, and Tate and fiancée Hunter Austin. He was blessed with great-grandchildren who brightened his days: Everleigh, Hudson, Wrenlee, Cameron, Paislee and Raiyah, and who will grow up hearing stories of his love and laughter.
Kenneth is also survived by his sister Betty Tallent, and brothers Ray Shepherd and Rod Shepherd and wife Maxine, along with many extended family and friends who will cherish his memory forever.
Kenneth's legacy is one of hard work, kindness, and devotion. His family and friends will carry forward the lessons he taught—love deeply, work honestly, and treasure every moment together.
