Keith Allen Cowart, 59, of Franklin, NC, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

He was born to the late Jessie Cowart and Hilda Leatherwood on September 15, 1967, in Macon County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Russell Cowart, a granddaughter, Ryelei, nephew, Christopher Cowart, his former wife, Margie Rathbone, and spouse, Leslie Scudder.

He was well known for his auto mechanicing skills and worked for Ron Slagle for over 25 years. He also did some carpentry work from time to time. One thing he did better than anything was to bring a smile to anyone’s face. He never met a stranger, and he was always there to help anyone who needed help. Even if it didn’t seem possible, one way or the other he would find a way. They say when someone dies on their birthday that they have completed their life’s circle. And although we wish he was still here with us all, I truly believe he fully completed that circle and was welcomed with open arms by all the loved ones he had lost and gone to Heaven.

Keith is survived by a son, Jessie Mal Cowart; daughter, Morgan Corissa Cowart; grandson, Hunter Humphries; granddaughter, McKenzie Humphries; sister, Teresa Hall (Doug) of Asher, KY; sister-in-law, Marcella Cowart; niece, Angelica Cowart; nephews, Brandon Cowart, Ryan Cowart, and Donald Hall.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 23rd, from 12-1pm at Macon Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1pm in the Chapel. Rev. Terry Dixon will officiate.
