After a long battle with dementia, Kathy passed away on Thursday, Nov 30, 2023, at her home in Franklin, NC.
Born December 25, 1939, in Clayton, Georgia. She moved with her family to Waynesville, NC. where she spent her childhood and met her adoring husband, Joel. She graduated from Waynesville Township High School. After graduating she and Joel married and moved to Newport News, VA. They lived in Newport News for 20 years where she served as secretary for First Baptist Church of Newport News and taught piano from her home. In 1979, she and Joel, moved to Dothan, AL. where she served as secretary for Calvary and Ridgecrest Baptist churches and taught piano. She and Joel retired to Franklin, NC. where she continued to teach piano and serve as secretary for Holly Springs Baptist Church.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, George and Mary Frady, her brothers Joel and Garland.

Survivors include: her loving husband of 64 years, Joel D Medford Sr, sons; Joel Jr, Duane & Darren. Grandchildren; Ashlee Thornton (Clayton), Anna-Carin Medford (fiancé Ryan Smith), Noah Medford (Leah). Great-grandchildren; Jordan and Henry Seagers, Carter Mason, Norah Thornton, Wyatt, and Graham Medford. Sister; Evelyn Long (Harold), and a large extended family.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to Kathy's First cousin Bonnie Bennett for the exceptional care and love she provided for Kathy during her last days. The family would also like to thank Four Seasons Hospice and her Sunday School class at Cowee Baptist Church.

A celebration of her life will take place at Cowee Baptist Church, Saturday, June 29th at 3pm. The family will receive friends 2-3pm, one hour prior to the service.
