Kathryn Sorrells Solesbee, 83, of Franklin, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Annie Guffey Sorrells. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Allen Solesbee Sr.; a grandson, Daniel Boll; five brothers, Herman, T.J, Ralph, Floyd "Bud" and Marshall Sorrells; and four sisters, Nicolette "Sis" Frazier, Hazel Johnson, Margaret "Dib" Bennett, and Doris Ann Cheek.
Kathryn was a caring, generous soul. Cooking and feeding people was her calling and no one ever left her house hungry. Not only did she cook for her family, she fed celebrities, cooked for her Monday night Bible Club and anyone else who needed a meal. She owned and operated two restaurants in Franklin, The Coffee Shop on Main Street in the '70s and Mama's Restaurant in the early 2000s and worked at the Sunset Restaurant off and on for more than 50 years.
She ministered in her own way throughout her life. The Bible was her final authority and she lived out her faith every day. She was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.
She is survived by four children, Karen Boll (Kenneth) of Lexington, Ky., Teresa Tabor (Steve) of Bryson City, N.C., Regina Scott (Rick) of Franklin, and Robert A. Solesbee of Franklin; two sisters, Ethel Sheffield of Jasper, Ga., and Lessie Miller of Hollywood, Ga.; and one brother, Walter Jack Sorrells of Westminster, S.C.; 11 grandchildren, Jamie Dills, Josh Dills, Sarah Dills, Sandy Tabor, Mandy Tabor, Crystal Tucker, David Scott, Lindsey Parker, Isaac Boll, Thomas Boll, and Reagan Wells; 20 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 14, at Longview Baptist Church with the service following at 2:30 p.m.. Rev. Wayne Sheffield will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Dills, Josh Dills, David Scott, Isaac Boll, Thomas Boll, Seth Parker, and Hunter Wells.
