Joyce Molly Jaynes Stephenson, 94, of Broadway, Virginia went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Life Care Center of New Market, VA.

She was born January 11, 1932, in Burke County, NC, the daughter of Hobson Harrison Jaynes and Bonnie Ray Austin Jaynes. She was a member of Cullasaja Assembly of God, Franklin, NC.

Joyce married Dr. Royce Eugene Stephenson on February 14, 1953, in North Carolina. Royce preceded her in death. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a partner in ministry with Royce for 53 years. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, crocheting, and cooking.

She is survived by two children, Annette O’Dell (David) of Franklin, NC, and Audrey Smith (Paul) of Broadway, VA; three grandchildren, Jennifer O’Dell Worley (Rodney), Rachel Smith, James Smith (Emily); two great grandchildren, Emma and Grace Worley; sister, Shirley Payne, and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings William Buchanan, James Buchanan, Ailene McCleary, Lorene Fox, and Betty Abee.

Visitation and service are at Cullasaja Assembly of God in Franklin, NC. Visitation is Saturday Oct 3 10:00 - 11:30 AM. A Celebration of Life service follows at 11:30. Pall Bearers are Larry Allen Bolick, Brian Brown, Joel Holland, Mike Knepp, Michael Payne, James Smith, Ronald Woods, and Rodney Worley
