John Posey Woods, Jr, 84, of Glenville NC, passed away on Sunday July 12, 2026, after an extremely short illness. He was the son of the late Martha Connally Woods and late John Posey Woods, Sr. He was also proceeded in death by his daughter, Nancy Woods Stamp.

John is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Elizabeth Anderson Woods of Glenville, and his sister Grace Woods Walden of Gainesville, Geogia and her three children. He was extremely proud of his daughter Nancy, and 3 sons: John Posey Woods, III of Brevard, Dewitt Anderson Woods (Amy) of Sapphire, and Benjamin Connally Woods (Ericka) of Glenville and his grandchildren; Patrick, Caroline, MacKenzie, Anne-Elizabeth, Anderson, and Hank. He is also survived by his beloved sister-in-law, Joan W Anderson of Glenville, many cousins, and Pangie Yeager.

John attended University of Tennessee-Chattanooga earning his B.S. in Classical Civilization and was a member of Kappa Sigma. He was a partner in an Anheuser-Busch Distributor in Florence, SC, before moving to the mountains in 1996. He founded The Trash Company.

A Celebration of his life will be on Saturday, July 18th at the Cashiers United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm. The family invites all to remember him by utilizing his philosophy of life by doing something kind for someone each and every day, and to make yourself indispensable in all you do.
