John Arthur Stokes, Sr., 90, of Franklin, NC, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at Care Partners Solace Center. Born in Everett, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Edgar Frederick Stokes and Edith Shirley MacDonald Stokes. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Phyllis Cowin.

John proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he graduated from Jacksonville University and then dedicated his career to healthcare as a hospital administrator in Arcadia, Florida. After many years of service, he and his wife Sharon moved to the mountains of Franklin, North Carolina, where they ran their business, Carolina Sew & Vac, for many years before their retirement.

A man of many talents and passions, John found great joy in woodworking and fishing. He was a devoted husband and father, known for his quiet strength, warm heart, and unwavering love for his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Sharon Stokes; his two children, John Arthur Stokes, Jr. (Andrew) and Cheryl Elizabeth Rogers (Evron).

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Franklin on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 1 p.m.
